Elizabeth is the Chief Operating Officer at Nuru, an organization dedicated to ending cycles of unjust poverty by fostering resilience and hope in the most marginalized communities. In this role, she oversees business operations, finance, marketing, and development, ensuring the organization operates with both strategic focus and operational excellence. She also leads Nuru’s diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives, embedding these values into every aspect of the organization’s work. In recognition of her contributions, she received the InsideNGO Excellence in Finance Award in 2016.
Before joining Nuru in 2013, Beth built a strong foundation in audit and advisory services at KPMG, working with public companies, nonprofits, and governmental organizations. She later taught auditing and pursued doctoral studies at the University of Arkansas, further honing her expertise and commitment to continuous learning.
Beth is driven by a deep belief in the dignity, potential, and agency of all people and a commitment to dismantling the systems that keep individuals trapped in cycles of poverty. Alongside her work at Nuru, she has been a long-time volunteer with the ONE Campaign, advocating for policies that improve the lives of those living in extreme poverty. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a Master of Accountancy from the University of Montana and is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
