Kevin is the President of Tang Capital Management, LLC, a life sciences-focused investment company he founded in 2002. A graduate of Duke University, Kevin began his career as a research analyst at Deutsche Banc Alex Brown, Inc., where he would ultimately serve as Managing Director and head of the firm’s Life Sciences research group.

Kevin has served as Chair of the Board, director or Chief Executive Officer of several pharmaceutical companies, including Aurinia Pharmaceuticals Inc., La Jolla Pharmaceutical Company (acquired by Innoviva, Inc.), Odonate Therapeutics, Inc., Heron Therapeutics, Inc., Penwest Pharmaceuticals Co. (acquired by Endo Pharmaceuticals, Inc.), Ardea Biosciences, Inc. (acquired by AstraZeneca PLC) and Trimeris, Inc.

In 2019, Kevin founded and currently serves as Chair of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of The Children's Education Initiative, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to improving the quality of education for socioeconomically disadvantaged children.
