Akashinga Board Secretary
Kristin Brooks Titus has spent her career bringing together communities, governments, and international partners to support locally led solutions in fragile and conflict-affected settings. She has served in senior U.S. Government roles shaping strategy and crisis response in Afghanistan and South Asia, where she helped direct multi-billion-dollar programs and forged partnerships that bridged local, national, and international actors. Through these roles, she has advanced democratic governance, countered illicit trade, expanded women’s livelihoods, and supported environmental protection.
Earlier in her career, Kristin gained experience across Africa, working on land rights and social justice with international NGOs, collaborating with Mozambican women entrepreneurs to expand microfinance opportunities, and serving as a Peace Corps Volunteer in West Africa, where she supported health and development efforts shaped by local priorities. These roles deepened her conviction that durable change must be driven by those closest to the challenges.
A California native now based outside Washington, D.C., Kristin is committed to advancing women-led conservation as a driver of community security and resilience. She holds a master’s degree in sustainable international development and enjoys kayaking, hiking, and exploring natural spaces with her young son and daughter.
