With over 30 years of leadership in tourism, hospitality, and conservation across Southern Africa, Chris Chiparaushe brings a unique blend of operational expertise, community engagement, and conservation passion to Akashinga.
Starting his career in guiding in 1995, Chris has managed some of the region’s most iconic safari lodges and protected areas, from Zimbabwe’s Malilangwe Trust, South Africa’s Shamwari Game Reserve, to Zambia’s Wilderness Safaris. He has held senior leadership roles with Touch The Wild, Dunhu Ramambo Hospitality Group, and African Parks driving revenue growth, developing tourism products, and strengthening stakeholder partnerships.
Chris’s career is marked by a commitment to excellence, coaching, and mentoring — earning multiple industry awards, including the Megafest Tourism Image Builder Award and the Wilderness Safaris Service Award. He is a Certified Hotel Administrator, Professional Guide and holds an MBA from Nottingham Trent University, alongside numerous specialist qualifications in guiding, hospitality, and management. Chris is a UNWTO Trainer in Guiding service and a guides’ trainer on the Great Kaza Birding Route.
At Akashinga, Chris leads Hurungwe East operations, ensuring anti-poaching effectiveness, ecological conservation, and strong community partnerships. His goal is to leave a legacy of excellence in conservation and sustainable tourism, grounded in both strategy and hands-on leadership.
