Dory Gannes is the Senior Director of Development at Akashinga, where she leads the organization’s global fundraising and partnership strategy. In her role, she oversees individual and institutional giving and the development of long-term philanthropic partnerships that strengthen Akashinga’s mission and field operations across Africa.

Since joining in 2025, Dory has worked to deepen relationships with funders, align development strategy with Akashinga’s global priorities, and embed a culture of philanthropy across teams. She partners closely with leadership and the Brand & Marketing team to ensure cohesive storytelling and donor communication that uplifts Akashinga’s values of gender equity, environmental stewardship, and resilience.

With over 15 years of experience in international development and nonprofit leadership, Dory has led and supported fundraising and philanthropic teams at organizations including the GRIP Training Institute, MSI United States, the Coral Reef Alliance, Silicon Valley Community Foundation and the United Nations Foundation’s Girl Up campaign. Once upon a time, she was a teacher and coach at an all-girls K-12 school. Her passions are her three kids, one dog, and exploring Colorado's mountains. Dory holds master’s degrees from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University and Harvard’s Graduate School of Education, and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan.
