Tsamba
Junior Country Scientist, Zimbabwe
Dr. Joshua Tsamba is an ecologist and conservationist with over a decade of professional experience in forestry and wildlife conservation across Zimbabwean landscapes. He holds a PhD in Plant Ecology, a MPhil in Tropical Resource Ecology, and a BSc in Biological Sciences, providing him with a strong academic foundation.
He currently serves as the Junior Country Scientist at Akashinga, where he works at the forefront of conservation science in Zimbabwe, focusing on ecological restoration, biodiversity monitoring, and adaptive management. His work explores the patterns and drivers of species diversity, particularly as influenced by environmental gradients, land-use change, and ecological disturbance.
His research has taken him across a range of ecosystems, from Zimbabwe’s mid-Zambezi Valley and Eastern Highlands to South Africa’s sub-Antarctic regions, and continues to inform practical conservation efforts.
Passionate about evidence-based conservation, Joshua is committed to applying ecological knowledge to guide adaptive management, restore degraded habitats, and promote sustainable land-use strategies across Southern Africa.
