Training Program Manager

Pamela Maisiri is the Akashinga Training Program Manager. Her work is centred at the Akashinga Training Academy, where she oversees all rangers and staff in both Akashinga West and East Zimbabwe Reserves, and also extends her support to Mozambique ranger and staff training needs. She has played a pivotal role in wildlife ranger training, operational support, community engagement, and organisational development across Zimbabwe and Mozambique.

A graduate of Midlands State University with a degree in Tourism and Hospitality Management, her conservation journey began in 2017, where she worked and cared for a baby rhino, Osita, as an intern at Aquila Private Game Reserve in South Africa. She later became a Wildlife Ranger Instructor at Akashinga, training over 100 women to become professional rangers — including the first female ranger cohort in Mozambique.

In 2022, she transitioned into community work, serving as Deputy Community Supervisor and leading community projects focused on infrastructure, education, women’s empowerment, and conservation awareness. Now in a leadership role, she is a board member of the Akashinga Zimbabwe local PVO and contributes to organisational decision-making, as well as supporting organisational growth and ranger welfare initiatives, including Akashinga’s mental health programmes and other employee welfare policies such as the maternity policy.

In August 2026,, she will complete a Master of Science in Strategic Management at Chinhoyi University and aspires to become Akashinga’s first female General Reserve Manager in order to further motivate fellow women and drive meaningful change for women on the frontlines, which she believes is best understood by those who have walked the same path. She is a passionate advocate for conservation, women’s empowerment, environmental education, and frontline worker wellbeing, and has since started a mentorship journey with other conservation stakeholders such as AWF under the Conservation Sisters Pathfinder Mentorship Programme, where she serves as a conservation mentor to university students, supporting their career development.

She lives by the quote: “Dream big and do it scared.”
