[Zimbabwe, January 8, 2026] — Akashinga has appointed Dr. Stacy Crevello as Chief Executive Officer, marking a new chapter of stewardship that reinforces the leadership, accountability, and institutional foundations behind our mission-led, community-driven conservation model.

Dr. Stacy Crevello, CEO of Akashinga

Dr. Crevello brings more than 25 years of experience in biodiversity conservation and climate resilience, with leadership roles spanning Africa, Asia, Europe, and Eurasia. Her appointment reflects Akashinga’s continued evolution as a professionally governed organisation grounded in scientific rigor, operational discipline, and long-standing partnership with communities.

Over the past six months, Akashinga has taken deliberate steps to professionalise the organisation, strengthening internal structures to match the scale and ambition of our mission. Teams across the organisation are building integrated systems and robust infrastructure that support more effective, coordinated operations. From the application of science-backed programmes to the refinement of frontline training, this work ensures that Akashinga’s growth is grounded in rigorous standards and evidence-based practice. Dr. Crevello’s leadership will focus on safeguarding and strengthening this foundation, ensuring the systems, governance, and partnerships that underpin Akashinga’s work remain effective, accountable, and fit for the future.

“Akashinga’s impact is the result of collective effort — rangers, community partners, staff, scientists, and supporters working together. Akashinga reflects how conservation can be achieved when it is anchored in strong governance and community leadership,” said Dr. Crevello. “I am committed to supporting the women and communities whose guardianship ensures lasting impact, so wildlife and people can thrive together.”

Akashinga’s programmes and field operations are active in Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Botswana, and Namibia, where women rangers, conservation teams, and partners protect critical ecosystems every day. Dr. Crevello’s leadership strengthens the organisational structures that support women-led and community-driven conservation at scale.

Prior to joining Akashinga, Dr. Crevello held senior leadership roles with the U.S. Agency for International Development, the Jane Goodall Institute, and the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization, directing major public and private investments toward Indigenous rights, forest protection, climate resilience, and protected-area expansion.

Her appointment underscores Akashinga’s commitment to ethical conservation practice, strong governance, and solutions built to endure — for people, wildlife, and the future we all share.
