Professor John Simons is the Executive Dean of the Faculty of Arts at Macquarie University and has published extensively on the issues of animal rights, animal protection and vegetarianism. He is a Fellow of the Zoological Society of London, the Oxford Centre for Animal Ethics, the Higher Education Academy and the Royal Society of Arts.

He is also an auditor for The Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA), an Auditor for the Australian Universities Quality Agency (AUQA now TEQSA) and a member of the peer review College of the UK’s Arts and Humanities Research Council.
